The Corsica railway at a glance
The Corsican train (often called U Trinichellu) links the island's main towns along sometimes spectacular routes. The network falls into two main groups:
- Main lines crossing or skirting the island (Bastia, Corte, Ajaccio, Calvi).
- Suburban lines, shorter services around Bastia, Ajaccio and the Balagne (Calvi - Île-Rousse).
In summer, frequency is generally better than off-season, but services remain limited on some routes: check the PDFs in advance and allow a margin, especially if you are making connections.
Corte and the Bastia - Ajaccio line
Corte has a station on the Bastia - Ajaccio axis, one of the busiest lines on the island. A real plus if you are staying in our studio: you can arrive by train from Bastia airport or Bastia town station, then reach the centre on foot (about ten minutes from Corte station).
In the « Main lines » PDFs, look for the tables matching your travel date:
- Bastia - Ajaccio - Bastia (Corte is on this central route),
- Ajaccio - Calvi - Ajaccio (useful for the west coast),
- Bastia - Calvi - Bastia (crossing the centre of the island towards the Balagne).

Practical tips for using the timetables
- Check the exact date: for main lines, two timetables apply depending on the period (29 June - 30 August, then 31 August - 1 November 2026). Suburban lines still follow the summer schedule. Outside these dates, check the CFC website.
- Allow time for connections: on main lines, a short wait at Corte may be enough, but keep a margin if you are travelling with luggage.
- Have a plan B: taxis and coaches sometimes complement the railway, especially for the last few kilometres.
- Keep an offline copy: download the PDFs to your phone before a hike or day trip; mobile signal can be weak in the mountains.
Staying in Corte between train journeys
Our holiday studio is at the start of the Restonica valley, about ten minutes on foot from the centre and Corte station. A practical base to combine train trips (Bastia, Ajaccio, Calvi) with days in the mountains (Restonica, GR20, Lac de Nino). Free parking in front of the studio if you also hire a car.
